What is Smile Designing?

Smile design is a combination of various cosmetic dental procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, composite bonding, tooth implants., and orthodontics that are used to improve the appearance of the teeth and overall smile.

It is an excellent option for patients who have broken or severely discolored teeth, or who are unhappy with the general shape or length of their teeth.

The treatment plan is customized for each patient and takes into account several factors, including facial appearance and skin tone, gum tissues, and lips. This results in a flawless and natural-looking smile.

1. Smile designing considers the tooth size, tooth color, tooth shape, tooth position, gum position, and gum colour.

3. Orthodontic or invisible aligners are also a part of smile designing but the results are very time-consuming.

4. Porcelain veneers on the other hand take 7- 10 days maximum for the smile transformation.

After-care for smile designing:

1. After the temporary or permanent veneer is placed, there may be some sensitivity and irritation. This is normal, and it will go away once the soft tissue heals. A warm salt water rinse will help.

2. For a few days after the veneer is applied, it may feel awkward. Your mouth will need to adjust to the new tooth, and it should feel more natural in less than a week.

3. If your bite feels unusual in any way, you should notify your dentist.

4. Brushing and flossing should be focused on the area between the veneer and the tooth at the gum line.

Step 3: Development of trial model:

• A diagnostic wax model is used to create the trial smile.

Step 4: Tooth reduction:

• Tooth sculpture or the removal of a small portion of the outer layer of teeth (enamel layer) is done.

Step 5: Impression of the prepared tooth is made:

• An impression is used to measure the teeth. After the measurement is taken, it is sent to the lab for further processing.

Step 6: Final porcelain veneers cementation:

• Porcelain veneers are bonded to your teeth with dental bonding glue or cement.
